DeSantis likens Florida to swing state hurdles in promoting path to triumph.
Gov. Ron DeSantis: Florida’s Unique Path to Victory in 2024
During a captivating interview on the Mark Belling Show, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) drew a compelling comparison between the political landscape in Florida and key swing states. With his sights set on the upcoming 2024 election, DeSantis highlighted his state’s transformation from a swing state to a Republican stronghold, emphasizing the potential for victory.
A Winning Strategy: Learning from Wisconsin
“I look at Wisconsin, and I say, if you can’t win Wisconsin, you will not get the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.,” DeSantis declared. “It is a must-win state for a Republican. It’s a very closely divided state, kind of like Florida was before I came on the scene. I think we have the ingredients with how unpopular Biden is to move Wisconsin red in 2024 and build off that success going forward.”
DeSantis emphasized the importance of mobilizing the base and expanding the Republican reach beyond traditional supporters. Reflecting on his own triumph in Florida, he proudly shared, “I got the highest percentage of Republicans that any governor candidate’s ever gotten in history. But we won 62% of Latinos. We won women by 8%. We even won independents by 18%. I think it’s important that Republicans will win if we can appeal to people outside of our base.”
Furthermore, the Florida governor showcased his conservative record, positioning himself as the Republican candidate with the strongest track record of defeating the Left. He highlighted his successful battles against George Soros prosecutors, COVID lockdowns, indoctrination in schools, and even Disney’s controversial influence on children.
Delivering Results: DeSantis’ Winning Mindset
“We’ve shown an ability to win these battles against the Democrats and against the Left. I think that that’s the frame of mind. I just view my job as to deliver results,” DeSantis confidently asserted.
According to a recent Fox News poll, DeSantis currently holds approximately 22% of the Republican vote, placing him in second position behind former President Donald Trump, who commands 56% of the support.
