Trump remains dominant in key states despite a post-indictment boost, according to the latest presidential polls.

Former President Donald Trump Maintains Strong Lead in Polls

According to the latest Real Clear Politics polling average, former President Donald Trump continues to hold a significant advantage in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Florida. His popularity surged after his indictments, solidifying his position as the frontrunner.

In Iowa and New Hampshire, Trump leads the pack of Republican candidates by a margin of approximately 25 points. In Florida, his lead is over 10 points, with Governor Ron DeSantis emerging as his closest competitor. Trump’s unwavering dominance in the polls can be attributed to the conservative backlash and the unwavering support of his base.

Iowa: Trump Leads the Way

In Iowa, where the first GOP caucus is scheduled for January 15, 2024, Trump maintains a commanding lead over DeSantis by 24 percentage points (47.7% to 23.7%), according to the RCP average. Trump recently held an event in Iowa, while DeSantis’ wife, Casey, engaged with voters in the Hawkeye State. Former South Carolina Governor and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, as well as Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), are polling third and fourth, respectively, with both hovering around 4%.

New Hampshire: Trump’s Stronghold

In New Hampshire, Trump maintains a significant lead over DeSantis, with a margin of 44.3% to 17.7%. The next closest contender, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, lags far behind at 4.7%.

Florida: DeSantis Trails Behind

Even in DeSantis’ home state of Florida, where he performs relatively well in the polls, he still trails Trump by an average of more than 10 percentage points. Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy has risen to third place in Florida polling but remains at a modest 3%.

On a national level, Trump’s polling average stands at an impressive 52.6%, according to the RCP average. DeSantis holds second place with 21%, while former Vice President Mike Pence secures third at 6.3%. Haley and Scott round out the top five with 3.5% and 3.3%, respectively. DeSantis’ national polling average has stabilized at around 20% after his entry into the race in late May. Earlier this year, he reached as high as 30% in some polls before officially launching his campaign.

Trump’s commanding lead in the polls coincides with the extensive media coverage he has received in recent months following his April indictment in Manhattan on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. Two months later, he faced an additional indictment in Miami on 37 felony counts related to the mishandling of classified documents. Despite these legal battles, many Republicans, including some of Trump’s primary opponents, have rallied behind him, denouncing the indictments as politically motivated attacks aimed at President Joe Biden’s main rival.
