Police discover belongings of escaped PA inmate: food, clothes, supplies.
Police Discover Bag Believed to Belong to Escaped Inmate
Police in Warren County, Pennsylvania, have made a significant discovery in their search for escaped inmate Michael Burham. A bag covered by a tarp and hidden under a log has been found, containing clothing, food, and other materials that would be useful for survival in the woods. State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens confirmed that they believe this bag belonged to Burham.
“It contains clothing, some food and some other materials that someone might need if they were trying to exist in the woods,” Bivens said, according to CNN. “We do believe that this one was his.”
The bag was found outside the city of Warren, but authorities have not provided specific details. They are urging hikers and bikers to be vigilant and report any similar bags they come across. Despite the proximity to the Allegheny National Forest, access to the area has not been restricted.
Investigators describe Burham as a survivalist and believe he is still in the vicinity. Over 200 officers from various agencies are involved in the search for him.
Escape Caught on Surveillance Footage
During a press conference, Warren County Commissioner Jeff Eggleston revealed that he had viewed surveillance footage of Burham’s escape. He described the inmate as being “like a spider” as he used exercise equipment to reach a window and then descended using a rope made from bedsheets. Prison staff responded quickly, but Burham managed to flee the building in just 10 seconds.

Authorities have expressed confidence in their progress and are determined to follow any lead. Lt. Col. Bivens stated, “We will follow any lead anywhere.”
Concerns about Burham being armed have also arisen, as investigators have obtained additional information suggesting he may have access to weapons.
During the press conference, it was revealed that a drone may have been flying over the prison on the night of Burham’s escape. Authorities are actively searching for the operator and considering the possibility of an accomplice.
“I’m not a big believer in coincidences,” Bivens said. “It could be that there was a perfectly innocent and reasonable explanation. It could also be that it was somehow connected to his escape. And we intend to find out more about that.”
Burham was being held on multiple charges, including kidnapping, burglary, and murder. He is the prime suspect in the murder of Kala Hodgkin and is also accused of abducting an elderly couple in Pennsylvania.
