Cornel West slams Biden’s race record as a ‘crime against humanity’.

Possible Green Party Presidential Candidate Cornel West Slams Biden’s History on Race

In a scathing critique, potential Green Party presidential candidate Cornel West has described President Joe Biden’s track record on race as nothing short of a “crime against humanity.”

West, a prominent left-leaning critic and considered one of Biden’s most formidable challengers, has taken aim at the president’s past policies concerning the black community. Specifically, West highlights Biden’s support for the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act in 1994, a legislation that not only increased police presence but also allocated additional funding for prisons.

“Well, I think you’ll think Joe Biden contributed to a crime against humanity when he became the architect of the mass incarceration regime in the 1990s,” West told the New York Post.

“I’ve taught in prison for 41 years. And the level of barbarity in our prisons has something to do with that crime bill that he put forward,” West said.

West argues that the black community is a “low priority” for Biden, accusing him of merely placing “Black faces in high places” without enacting substantial change.

However, West’s criticisms extend beyond race-related issues. The liberal philosopher also echoes Republican complaints about the functioning of the president’s administration. West questions why the Secret Service failed to identify the individual responsible for bringing a bag of cocaine into the White House, an incident that led to a partial evacuation until the substance could be identified.

As a third-party candidate in the upcoming 2024 elections, West’s presence has raised concerns among political analysts. They fear that his candidacy could siphon significant votes away from the Democrats, potentially benefiting a Republican candidate.

West justifies his decision to run as a third-party candidate by arguing that having a Democrat in office would only delay the inevitable rise of fascism.

Trump is leading us toward a second civil war, Biden is leading us toward a third world war. So I am not excited about either choice,” West said. “I don’t want to just support a caretaker government against fascism every four years because sooner or later, the fascists will still win.”
