Dire message on TV: ‘Hour of Reckoning is here’
Suspected Ukrainian Hackers Send Message to Russia on TV Screens
In a stunning display of cyber warfare, suspected Ukrainian hackers managed to humiliate Russia by sending a powerful message directly to everyday Russians through their TV screens.
“The hour of reckoning has come,” hackers posted on Russian TV screens.
The message, displayed in white against a stark black background, appeared on several channels including the Russian Defense Ministry’s own channel and two state-owned stations.
According to reports, the video featured scenes of Ukrainian troops celebrating battlefield successes, further intensifying the humiliation for Russia.
But the hackers didn’t stop there. After the footage of the troops, clips of ballet dancers performing “Swan Lake” were shown, reminiscent of the old Soviet Union’s practice of playing the same ballet after the deaths of Soviet leaders.
This is not the first time Russian TV has been hacked. In June, a “deepfake” image of Russian President Vladimir Putin announced martial law due to a supposed Ukrainian incursion. Although the incident was later admitted as a hack, Putin’s spokesman assured that it would never happen again.
Meanwhile, Ukraine continues its counter-offensive to regain ground taken by Russia. General Valery Zaluzhny, Ukraine’s top commander, has dismissed suggestions that the attack has been ineffective, emphasizing the sacrifices made by Ukrainian soldiers.
“Every day, every meter, is given by blood,” Zaluzhny stated.
Zaluzhny also highlighted the urgent need for jets that can match Russia’s capabilities, emphasizing that a limited number of advanced aircraft would be sufficient to defend Ukraine.
As tensions escalate, Russia is reportedly facing morale issues within its military.

Last week, former General Ivan Popov was sacked by the Russian military for openly criticizing his commanders. Popov expressed concerns about the lack of counter-battery combat, absence of artillery reconnaissance stations, and the high casualties caused by enemy artillery fire.
Despite the challenges, Ukraine remains determined to defend its territory and push back against Russian aggression.
