Over 1,300 flights canceled due to Northeast storms.

Airlines Cancel Over ‍1,300 Flights‌ Amidst ⁣Northeast ‍Storms

Airlines, both ‍domestic and abroad, ⁢have‍ canceled⁤ more than 1,300⁣ flights coming in ​and out of the ‍Northeast due to continuing storms.

According to FlightAware,⁤ at least⁣ 1,344⁢ flights‌ within, ⁢in, or out‍ of the ⁤United​ States ‍have⁤ been canceled ‍as ‍of ⁢Sunday afternoon. Republic,‌ JetBlue, ⁢United, and American⁣ Airlines are​ among⁣ the carriers affected.

Major U.S. Airlines ⁣Take a Hit

United ‍Airlines ​and American Airlines,​ two of the ‌country’s major airline⁤ companies, ⁢have canceled ‍118 and ​107 flights, respectively.

Most of ⁤the cancellations are from Newark⁢ Liberty ⁢International ​Airport in New Jersey ⁢and‍ John​ F. Kennedy ⁣International Airport and LaGuardia​ Airport in ‌New York.

Additionally, over ​5,930⁢ total ​flights have⁢ been delayed within, in, or out of‌ the⁣ U.S.

Severe ‍Weather Causes ​Ground⁣ Stops

The Federal​ Aviation ‌Administration reports⁢ that ⁢airlines-cancel-over-1300-flights-due-to-northeast-storms/” title=”Over 1,300 flights canceled due to Northeast storms.”>severe⁤ weather conditions prompted ground ​stops‍ at ​the‌ three ‍airports.

The National Weather Service⁣ has issued‍ a ⁣warning for​ “excessive rainfall” in several Northeastern states, with‍ New York, New Jersey,⁢ Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland ⁣being “under the ⁢highest threat.”

Some areas have already​ experienced significant rainfall,‍ with Bay Shore, ​New York, recording six inches and Danbury, ⁤Connecticut,⁤ recording four ​inches.

In‍ addition, the National Weather ​Service ⁤has⁢ issued a‍ tornado ‍watch for⁤ areas in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York,‍ and Rhode Island ⁢on Sunday morning through⁤ 3 p.m. ⁤EDT.
