Trump promises Ukraine greater support if Putin rejects peace deal.
Former president Donald Trump has an intriguing proposal to end the ongoing fighting between Russia and Ukraine. In a recent interview on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” Trump revealed his plan to quickly bring both sides to the negotiating table and secure a peace deal within 24 hours.
Trump confidently stated, “I know Zelenskyy very well, and I know Putin very well, even better. And I had a good relationship, very good with both of them.” He went on to explain his strategy, saying, ”I would tell Zelenskyy, ‘No more. You’ve got to make a deal.’ And I would tell Putin: ’If you don’t make a deal, we’re going to give him a lot. We’re going to give them more than they ever got if we have to.’ I will have the deal done in one day. One day.”
Curious about the specifics of Trump’s plan, NTD News reached out to his campaign for clarification. However, they did not receive a response at the time of publishing this article.
DeSantis PAC, Trump Camp Trade Barbs on Ukraine
It’s worth noting that the United States has already provided significant support to Ukraine, including weapons, training, and military equipment. This assistance includes anti-tank and anti-aircraft launchers, artillery, Patriot missile defense systems, tanks, and other armored fighting vehicles. The US has even approved transfers of F-16 fighter jets and controversial cluster munitions.
While Trump is running for the presidency in 2024, he is one of the few candidates who have expressed skepticism about US support for Ukraine. He has previously referred to the ongoing conflict as a “proxy battle” that carries the risk of “global war.”
Shortly after Trump’s interview, a political action committee supporting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis engaged in a war of words with Trump’s campaign regarding their stance on Ukraine.
