DeSantis slams LGBT activist at campaign event: ‘Hands off our children!’
Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis fires back at disruptive activist
The Florida governor, Ron DeSantis, made headlines after being interrupted by a left-wing activist during a packed event in South Carolina. DeSantis, who is set to become the first Republican candidate to file paperwork for the 2024 presidential primary in the state, was speaking to a crowd at the Philip T. Glennon Community Center in Tega Cay when the incident occurred.
While discussing President Joe Biden, DeSantis took a jab at him, saying, “Why don’t you focus on spending more time with your granddaughter in Arkansas, or at least acknowledge she exists, before you worry about our children?” As DeSantis spoke, an LGBT activist unfurled a pride flag and started shouting at the governor. Security quickly intervened to handle the disruption.
Once the situation was under control, DeSantis pointed at the activist and passionately exclaimed, “And they shouldn’t be worried about our children, either! We don’t want you indoctrinating our children! Leave our kids alone!” The crowd erupted in cheers.

During the event, reporter Meg Kinnard highlighted a moment where a woman in the audience, who identified herself as a “very hardcore Trump supporter,” expressed her admiration for DeSantis and the impact he has had. DeSantis thanked her and agreed with her sentiments, emphasizing the need to end the weaponization of government and restore the country to its founding principles.
The event drew a significant crowd, with approximately 900 people in attendance, according to the local fire marshal. Tega Cay, a town with a population of about 12,000, showed strong support for DeSantis.
