Unconventional OBGYN asserts not all baby-havers are women.

Danielle Jones, OB-GYN, sparked⁤ controversy‍ on⁤ TikTok when ‍she⁤ challenged⁤ the ⁣notion that giving birth is exclusively⁤ a⁣ female ​experience.

The ‌video,⁤ shared by LibsofTikTok, featured a⁢ woman​ discussing ​the​ unique nature of childbirth,‌ followed ⁤by obstetrician and gynecologist Danielle ​Jones,‌ who appeared in a lab‌ coat and took⁣ a ​different ⁤stance.

The ‍first woman stated,⁢ “I ⁤assist women‍ in ⁢labor, ‌and ‍the‌ things that they ‌are doing ‍are​ uniquely feminine⁤ —”

Jones interjected, immediately criticizing the woman​ for‍ not ‌using inclusive⁤ language.

“So first‌ off, as a doula,⁤ your job is ⁢to support⁢ the ⁤person giving ⁢birth,” she explained. “If ‌all ‌of the patients you have are‌ women,‌ then it’s ⁣perfectly ‌fine ‌to‌ refer ‌to‌ them as women. However, ‍not‌ every patient⁤ who ‌has ‍a ⁣baby identifies ⁣as a woman.”

“As​ an ⁣OB-GYN,⁣ I care for⁣ many ‌patients ‌who are trans⁤ men ‌or‌ non-binary⁣ individuals who ⁢have babies,” she⁢ continued.‌ “The ‍purpose of⁣ inclusive language ⁤is⁢ not‌ to‍ misgender⁣ women or mothers, but ⁢to ​appropriately ⁤include ​anyone ‌who ⁣may ⁢need the information, ⁣especially on platforms like TikTok.”

Jones ⁣further argued‌ that it was​ particularly⁢ insensitive for the other​ woman to⁢ express⁤ her ⁢views during LGBTQ+ ‍PRIDE⁣ month. ‌She added,‍ “So⁤ how dare​ you, during PRIDE⁢ month,​ come on ⁢this​ app,‍ which is very ‌inclusive​ of ⁣the LGBTQ+‌ community,⁤ and‍ say that ⁢nobody who gives ‍birth can ‍be⁢ a ‍man⁢ or ⁤a non-binary person. Just because you don’t care for these ⁢individuals or don’t ‍want ⁣to ⁢care for ​them⁢ doesn’t mean they don’t exist,⁢ and you ⁢don’t have the authority to⁢ determine what ⁤they should be ⁣called. They ⁣do.‌ Do better.”
