Second IRS whistleblower discloses identity during congressional hearing on Hunter Biden investigation.

IRS Whistleblower Reveals⁣ Identity‍ and ‍Alleges Political Interference ⁤in Hunter Biden Probe

A previously anonymous ⁢Internal Revenue Service ⁣(IRS) whistleblower⁢ made a‍ stunning revelation at a House ⁣Oversight Committee hearing ⁢on July 19. Special Agent Joseph Ziegler, who had‌ been known as “Whistleblower X,” ⁢publicly ⁣identified himself and shared ‍his ⁣concerns about political interference in the investigation of⁣ Hunter Biden.

Mr. Ziegler, ‍a ⁢gay Democrat‍ with 13⁢ years of experience ‍in ⁣the IRS ‍Criminal‌ Investigation Division,⁤ had previously given closed-door‍ testimony with IRS Supervisory ⁢Special Agent James ⁣Shapley. They alleged misconduct in ⁣the federal probe of Hunter ‍Biden’s tax matters. Now, they were ⁤ready to bring their concerns ⁣to⁤ the ⁢public’s attention.

Charges‌ Recommended Against Hunter Biden

During the⁢ hearing,⁤ Mr. Ziegler revealed that lawyers from the Department of Justice⁢ (DOJ)⁣ Tax Division ⁢had recommended felony and misdemeanor charges against Hunter ‍Biden‍ for the 2017, ‌2018, and⁤ 2019 ⁢tax ‌years.⁤ However, ⁤the whistleblower expressed concern that only a⁤ misdemeanor charge⁤ was ⁢pursued, despite the DOJ’s ⁤own policy.

In his prepared opening⁢ statement, Mr. ‌Ziegler stated, ⁤”We need to treat each taxpayer the ⁣same⁣ under the⁤ law.”‌ He emphasized the importance ⁢of⁣ equal treatment and ‌urged lawmakers ‌to address the ‌discrepancies ⁢in the handling of Hunter ‍Biden’s case.

Mr. Shapley had ‌previously ⁢informed the‍ House⁤ Ways⁣ and Means Committee that‌ felony charge recommendations were ignored⁣ by⁢ DOJ officials, raising further questions about the integrity of‍ the investigation.

Plea Deal⁣ and Controversial‌ Deductions

Following the⁤ whistleblower’s testimony, it was revealed that Hunter ‌Biden‌ had⁤ accepted a⁣ plea deal offered‍ by the ⁣DOJ. He ⁣pleaded guilty to‌ two misdemeanor⁤ tax charges and admitted to providing false information ‍on⁢ his federal ‌gun application. This deal is ⁤expected to‌ spare him‍ from‍ jail time,⁢ with a court appearance scheduled for July ⁤26.

Mr. Ziegler also ⁤highlighted ‍questionable⁣ deductions made⁢ by Hunter Biden on ‌his⁤ 2018⁢ tax ⁤return. He claimed⁤ that expenses‌ incurred during ⁢a ⁤six-week stay‌ at⁢ an⁣ exclusive‌ hotel ⁤were⁤ falsely reported as ‍business expenses. The‍ whistleblower pointed ⁢out contradictions between Hunter Biden’s statements ⁢in‌ his memoir⁣ and the deductions‍ claimed ⁣on his‍ tax⁢ return.

The⁢ witness ⁢also revealed ‌that Hunter Biden failed ⁢to report⁣ any income ‌from his time⁢ as‍ a ‍member of‌ the board of ⁤directors of a‍ certain ⁣organization,⁤ despite‍ widespread media ⁢coverage of his⁢ involvement.
