EXCLUSIVE — Nikki Haley​ to Discuss China and the Fentanyl Crisis in New Hampshire

Republican presidential contender and former South ‌Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is set to ⁤engage in a compelling conversation about China and the ⁣fentanyl crisis at a gathering in New Hampshire‍ next week.

Haley, who has passionately​ made the fentanyl crisis ⁤and China’s involvement⁢ a central focus⁤ of her campaign in New Hampshire, will be making a swing through the ​northern state. This ⁣visit will also include two town halls, providing an opportunity for direct⁣ interaction with the community. The event is scheduled for July‍ 26 in Manchester, New Hampshire, and​ will feature a joint ‍conversation on the‌ crisis⁤ between Haley, former Republican state Rep. Victoria Sullivan,‌ and Freedom Movement New Hampshire.

“Many New Hampshire‍ families are reeling from the fentanyl ​crisis and Joe Biden’s refusal to crack down on China,” expressed Ken‍ Farnaso, a​ spokesman for Haley,⁢ in​ an interview with the Washington Examiner. “Nikki Haley is China’s worst nightmare, and Xi Jinping knows it. We‍ look forward to working with⁣ the Freedom Movement New Hampshire⁢ next week to discuss Nikki’s plan to stop ⁤the⁤ flow of fentanyl.”

New Hampshire is currently⁤ grappling with a distressing surge in fatal‍ drug overdoses, resulting in over 400 deaths in the state in 2022 ‌alone. According to the ⁢Drug Enforcement Administration, approximately 80% of these fatal overdoses in New⁢ Hampshire involved fentanyl in 2019.

In April, the ⁣former governor unveiled a ‍comprehensive plan to combat the flow of fentanyl if she is elected president next year. This plan includes severing ties with the Chinese government⁤ until they cease ⁢their involvement in the crisis and fortifying the⁤ United​ States’ southern border with Mexico.

Haley asserts that ⁣China supplies the chemicals for fentanyl and other drugs,⁣ which are ‍then passed ‌on ⁤to Mexico. In Mexico, liquid fentanyl and ⁤fentanyl powder are mass-produced and mixed into counterfeit prescription drugs. However,​ China argues that ​the chemicals they provide are common and⁤ are typically sold through ⁤legitimate​ trade ‍channels.

“In international trade, it is the importer’s duty to‌ prevent such chemicals from‍ falling into‌ the hands of illicit‍ drugmakers,” stated the Chinese Embassy in Washington ‍in a recent statement. “As China ​and the rest of the ​world strengthen control of fentanyl-related substances, the fentanyl issue in the U.S. has been deteriorating and taking away even more ⁤lives. ‍The⁣ U.S. needs to do some serious reflections ⁢on this.”

Haley made ‍headlines as the first‌ presidential candidate to⁣ visit the‍ border, where she rode ⁣along with Border Patrol to witness the drug crisis firsthand. This visit took⁣ place in April.

The‍ South Carolinian has previously hosted events in New Hampshire focused on fentanyl, including a roundtable ⁢discussion ⁤with Hillsborough County Sheriff Chris Connelly, which addressed the drug crisis and crime in the state. During her​ upcoming visit to New Hampshire⁤ next week,​ Haley will ⁣also hold two town halls, one in Barrington and the other in ​Hollis, both scheduled ⁢for July ‍25.
