Dems’ Failed Attempt to Censor RFK Jr. at Hearing
House Democrats Attempt to Censor Robert Kennedy Jr. at Censorship Hearing
House Democrats made a controversial move during a hearing on censorship, trying to censor Democratic Party candidate for president, Robert Kennedy Jr. The attempt was led by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), who cited Kennedy’s alleged anti-Semitic and anti-Asian comments as the reason for the motion.
Wasserman Schultz referred to a House rule against defamatory testimony, which would allow the committee to determine whether to allow such testimony during the open hearing. Kennedy’s remarks about COVID-19 being “ethnically targeted” to spare certain races, particularly Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people, were the focus of the controversy.
Despite the motion, a vote was held and the GOP majority’s motion to table the censorship attempt succeeded, allowing the hearing to continue as planned. Kennedy, who has gained significant support in the 2024 Democratic Party primary polling, delivered an opening statement denying any racist or anti-Semitic intent in his words.
The hearing, chaired by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), aimed to examine the federal government’s role in censoring Americans, the Missouri v. Biden case, and Big Tech’s collusion with government agencies to silence speech. The other witnesses at the hearing were Breitbart News Politics Editor Emma-Jo Morris and D. John Sauer, special assistant attorney general at the Louisiana Department of Justice.
