The epoch times

Polls indicate that if Senator Manchin or a third-party candidate were to run, it would negatively impact Biden’s chances and benefit Trump.

A recent poll from Quinnipiac University has sparked excitement and speculation among voters. The poll revealed‌ that nearly half of voters‌ would consider supporting a third-party candidate in future elections.

The results of the poll showed a split among voters, with 47⁢ percent open to the idea of voting for a third-party candidate and another 47 percent opposed to it. Interestingly, the majority of Independents expressed willingness to‍ switch their vote, while Democrats and ‍Republicans were more resistant to the idea. Democrats showed‌ slightly more openness, with 61 percent considering a third-party candidate and 35 percent not considering ‌it, ‌compared ⁢to Republicans’ 57 percent and 38 percent.

Quinnipiac University⁤ Polling Analyst Tim Malloy commented on the findings, saying, “With neither President Biden nor former President‍ Trump⁣ knocking⁤ it ‌out of ⁣the park on‍ favorability, almost half of the ‍country would consider‌ another option. It is a vivid‍ indication that for many voters, the status quo is a no-go.”

The poll also asked voters to prioritize eight key issues. The top concern⁣ was the “Economy,” ‍with 31 percent ⁢of the vote,‍ followed closely by ⁢”preserving democracy in the United States” with 29 percent.

Will Manchin Run Against Biden?

All eyes ⁢are currently on ‍Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) as a potential third-party challenger.⁤ This speculation has‍ intensified⁢ since Manchin recently appeared at a town hall ⁣hosted by No Labels, an⁣ organization planning⁤ to raise $70 million⁢ to support a third-party candidate.

In a statement released on July 12, Manchin expressed his frustration with the current state of ‌politics and his desire for⁢ more common-sense‍ solutions. He stated, “It is clear⁢ that most Americans are⁤ exceedingly frustrated by the‌ growing⁢ divide in ⁢our political parties and toxic‌ political rhetoric from our elected leaders. Our political discourse is lacking engaged debates around ‍common ‍sense solutions to solve the pressing issues facing our nation. ‌I am looking forward to modeling this type of conversation with my good friend, Gov. Huntsman,‍ and the No ⁢Labels ⁢community.”

However, politicians from both sides of the aisle⁢ have ‌voiced concerns that a third-party candidate would only weaken support for President Biden. Senator‍ Mitt Romney (R-Utah) warned that the No Labels effort could potentially benefit former President ‌Trump. He suggested‌ that a third-party candidate would need to be ‌positioned to the‌ right of ⁣Trump⁣ in order to draw voters ⁢away ‍from ⁢him, rather than⁤ from Biden.

Despite not naming any specific candidates, the ⁤Quinnipiac poll has created ⁣an unprecedented opening‍ for an‌ independent ticket in the‌ 2024 elections, according to No Labels spokesperson Maryanne Martini.

When asked about the potential impact of a third-party candidate, Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.)‍ suggested that Manchin⁤ would likely ⁢draw more Democratic votes. However,⁢ he also acknowledged that if the Republican candidate was Trump, there would be internal opposition ‌within the ⁢party⁤ regardless.

Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) expressed concerns that a third-party ⁤challenger would only divide the votes of those who do not support Trump,‌ potentially benefiting⁣ his reelection. She emphasized the importance of unity among anti-Trump voters.

Hypothetical Candidate Wins Out: Poll

In another recent ‍poll conducted by Monmouth⁣ University, interesting findings emerged. ⁣The poll‌ results indicated that a hypothetical third-party candidate could potentially win in future elections. ‍This further⁤ adds⁤ to the growing interest and discussion ⁣surrounding the possibility of ‌a third-party ⁤candidate.
