VIDEO: Pelosi Brushes Off Worries About Biden’s Age—’He’s Like a Kid to Me’
Rep. Nancy Pelosi Downplays Concerns About President Biden’s Age
In a recent interview on MSNBC, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) addressed concerns about President Joe Biden’s age by highlighting that he is younger than her. Despite a majority of Americans expressing doubts about Biden’s ability to serve a second term, Pelosi emphasized that age is a relative thing and praised Biden’s leadership.
Pelosi even shared anecdotes about meeting 100-year-old screenwriter Norman Lear and 94-year-old architect Frank Gehry, who both referred to Biden as a “kid” despite his age. She dismissed the focus on Biden’s age as an excuse and suggested that it should not be an issue.
However, a recent Harvard Caps/Harris poll revealed that 61 percent of Americans believe Vice President Kamala Harris would take over for Biden at some point during a second term. Additionally, 57 percent of respondents expressed doubts about Biden’s mental fitness, and 67 percent believed he is too old to be president.
Interestingly, Biden himself acknowledged the legitimacy of concerns about his age earlier this year, stating that it is reasonable for people to raise such issues. He urged skeptics to “watch me” and judge his capabilities.
