Residents in​ North Carolina ⁢Set to Receive SNAP Benefits

Residents ⁢in North ⁤Carolina who receive benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition‍ Assistance ⁢Program (SNAP) are eagerly ⁣anticipating their upcoming benefits. SNAP benefits, also known as food stamps,‍ are issued to eligible individuals and families to help them ‌afford nutritious food.

Benefits​ are sent out ​every other ⁣day during the distribution period every month to ⁣recipients based on the last digit of their Social Security ‍number in numerical order.

For those with a Social Security‌ number ending in 1, benefits are received on the 3rd of the month. This pattern continues through the 23rd, with those with a Social Security number ending in 9 receiving benefits on the ‍19th, and those with a Social ​Security number ending in 0 receiving benefits on the 21st.

The amount of benefits a recipient⁢ receives depends on their income and​ household size. For a household ‍of⁣ one person, the maximum benefit is $281. However, for a larger ⁢household​ of⁣ five, the maximum​ monthly benefit increases to $1,116.

SNAP benefits can⁤ be used ​to purchase a variety of essential⁤ food items, including​ bread,​ cereals, fruits, vegetables, meats, fish,‌ dairy products, bottled water, non-alcoholic‌ beverages, seeds, and plants that produce‍ food. However, it’s important to note that SNAP benefits‍ cannot be used to ‌buy beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes, non-food items, or hot or prepared foods.

In North Carolina, approximately 1.6 million people, which is roughly 15% of the state’s population, receive assistance paying ⁢for food through SNAP. The average benefit payment per household member in the Tar Heel ‍State is $181.

The eligibility for SNAP ⁢benefits in ‌North Carolina is determined by the maximum annual income permitted based‌ on household⁢ size. For a household of one, the maximum annual income is $29,160. However, for a larger household of five, the maximum⁢ annual ‍income increases ⁢to $70,280.
