Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic expressed⁣ deep regret and took full responsibility after fracturing his left foot in a moment of frustration ⁣during Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Twins. “I feel terrible, especially⁣ for the guys,” Kelenic tearfully told reporters. “I just let the emotions get the best of me, and I just let them down. I take full responsibility for⁢ it. It’s on me.”

Unfortunately, Kelenic’s injury⁤ prevented him from participating in Thursday’s game, leaving the team at a disadvantage as they strive for a playoff spot. The young outfielder expressed his disappointment in not being able to contribute to the team’s success.

“I love to win,” Kelenic said. “That’s⁤ the hardest part, that now I⁤ can’t be out there to help the guys, and that’s my fault.”

Kelenic’s manager, Scott Servais, confirmed⁤ that⁢ X-rays were taken on‍ Wednesday night and a‍ scan was done the following morning to assess the⁣ extent of the injury.

The 24-year-old,‌ who made his MLB debut in 2021, suffered the fracture ‌after striking out in ⁢the ninth inning against the Twins and⁤ venting his⁤ frustration by kicking a water cooler in the dugout.

In response to Kelenic’s absence, the Mariners called up Cade Marlowe, a promising outfield⁣ prospect from the Triple-A Tacoma‍ Rainiers, to fill the void in Thursday’s game. ‍This will mark the 26-year-old’s MLB debut as he steps in for Kelenic in the series finale against Minnesota.
