Sen. Paul assured the public that the fire would not hinder his work for his constituents and expressed gratitude to the first responders.
According to real estate consulting company Xome, the building, which was built in 1900, is likely a total loss.
While the cause of the fire remains unclear, it is worth noting that Sen. Paul has been a target of political violence in the past, including an ambush in his yard in 2017 and an incident at a congressional baseball practice that same year.
