Last chance to receive up to $1,691 in food stamps in Delaware, ending this Sunday.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in Delaware
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Delaware is wrapping up its July payments this Sunday. This unique program stands out for having one of the longest windows for issuing payments in the United States, spanning over three-quarters of the month.
Each recipient’s payment date is determined by the first letter of their last name, with a total of 22 days allocated for distribution. The final payments for this month will be sent out on Sunday.
Payment Distribution and Amounts
SNAP payments in Delaware begin distribution on the second day of each month. The amount received depends on the household size of the recipients. Single households receive $281, while eight-member households receive $1,691, as stated by Delaware.gov.
These funds are loaded onto an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which functions similarly to a credit card. However, it can only be used for purchasing food and nonalcoholic drinks.
If recipients do not spend their entire amount, there is no need to worry. The remaining funds will carry over to the next month as long as the EBT card is regularly used. The funds do not expire.
SNAP is active across all states and Washington, D.C.
