Jamie Foxx speaks out in a heartfelt video after being hospitalized, crediting God for his survival.
Entertainer Jamie Foxx Breaks Silence After Hospitalization
Entertainer Jamie Foxx broke his silence in an emotional video late this week after being hospitalized back in April with a serious undisclosed medical emergency.
The 55-year-old actor, singer, and comedian did not disclose any specifics about the condition that he suffered other than to say he did not want people seeing him “with tubes running out of me.”
“I went through something that I thought I would never ever go through,” he said. “I know a lot of people were waiting, you know, wanting to hear updates, but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that, man. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and, and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”
Foxx credited his sister Deidra Dixon and his daughter Corinne Marie with quickly getting him the medical attention that he needed to save his life.
“I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way, and y’all know they kept it airtight, they didn’t let anything out, they protected me and that’s what I hoped that everyone could have in moments like these,” he said.
Foxx slammed rumors that some have spread about his medical condition, dismissing them as false.
“I went to hell and back,” he said. “And my road to recovery had some potholes as well. But I’m coming back and I’m able to work so I want to thank people that let me work.”
Foxx then addressed the emotions that he expressed in his video, saying that he will from time-to-time break down crying in the future given the enormity of the crisis he experienced.
“And if you see me out from now on and every once in a while I just burst into tears, it’s because it’s been tough man. I was sick, man,” he said. “But now I’ve got my legs underneath, so you’re gonna see me out. But like I said, I just want you to remember me for the jokes that I crack, the movies that I make, some of them good, some of them ain’t.”
“I’m here on earth because of some great people,” he concluded. “I’m here on earth because of God, man. I love all y’all. I justed wanted to jump on here and let you [know] that I’m on my way back.”
