SNAP benefits to reach four states in just nine days.

Four States ⁤Begin Issuing ⁢Food​ Stamps to Eligible Households

In just nine days, four states ⁤will start​ distributing food stamps to⁢ households that​ qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition ​Assistance ⁢Program (SNAP). Alaska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and Vermont will⁤ be sending out SNAP benefits ⁣to all participating households​ on August 1.

Payment Dates ‌and Distribution

While the ​payment dates remain consistent each month, states will be distributing SNAP benefits on a rolling basis.‍ The specific date will depend on factors such as a recipient’s Social Security⁤ number, last name, case number, or ⁤account number.‌ For all other states, ‌food ‍stamps will be sent ​out ‌to SNAP recipients starting in the early​ days of August and continuing throughout the month.

Maximum ​Payments in the First Four States

Here are the maximum payment amounts for ⁢the initial four states:

Alaska

In Alaska, the maximum‌ monthly payment for eligible households‍ varies based⁣ on the region they reside in.​ The state is divided into three regions:

  • Urban: ⁢ $230 for a ‌household of one,⁢ $767 for a household​ of‍ four, and $1,382 for a⁣ household ⁤of⁣ eight. An ⁤additional $173 is added for each extra member beyond eight.
  • Rural I: $293 for ⁤a‍ household of one, ⁤$979 for ⁢a household of four, and $1,762 for a household of eight. An extra $220 is‍ added ⁢for each additional member.
  • Rural⁢ II: $357 for a household of one, $1,191‍ for a household ⁢of ⁤four, and $2,145 ‌for a household⁣ of eight. $268 is ‍added for each extra‍ member.

North Dakota

In North Dakota, the​ maximum‌ payment ⁤is $281 for ‍a household of one, $939 for a household of four, and $1,692 for a household of eight. Approximately 6% of the state’s population, ⁤totaling⁢ 47,400 people, are ⁣eligible SNAP benefit recipients.⁤ The average payment per ⁢household⁤ member per month is $185.

Rhode Island

Rhode ⁢Island has an average‍ SNAP payment of $183 per household member per month. The maximum ⁢amount is $281 for a household of one, $939 for a household of four, and⁣ $1,691 for a household of⁣ eight. An additional $211 is added for each extra member. Around 13% of Rhode ​Island’s population, with‍ 139,400 individuals, receive food‌ stamps.

Vermont

In⁣ Vermont, SNAP benefits ‌are received by approximately 11% of the population, totaling 69,500 ⁣people. The average payment per⁣ household member per month is $188. The maximum amount is‍ $281 for ‌a household of⁣ one, $939 for a household of ⁣four, and $1,339 for a household ‍of six. An ⁢additional ​$211 is added for each member​ beyond six.
