Jordan suggests House may swiftly impeach Garland.
Rep. Jim Jordan: House Could Move Towards Impeaching Attorney General Merrick Garland
During a recent testimony from two IRS whistleblowers before the House Oversight Committee, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) expressed his belief that the House of Representatives may be heading towards impeaching Attorney General Merrick Garland at a rapid pace.
Jordan, who serves as the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, discussed the revelations brought forth by IRS agents Gary Shapley and Joe Ziegler during an appearance on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures. Host Maria Baritomo asked Jordan if he would support impeaching Garland based on the information presented during the hearing. Jordan responded by stating that the decision ultimately rests with the full conference of the House GOP.
Strong Evidence Points Towards Impeachment
“I will tell you this, the speaker has been very clear. Speaker McCarthy has said if we have to go to an impeachment inquiry, we will, in fact, do that. It sure looks like now, based on the evidence that keeps piling up, based on what Sen. Grassley released this week, the 10-23 form, what we heard from the whistleblowers this past week, and the conflicting statements from the justice department, it sure looks like we’re moving in that direction at a pretty quick pace,” Jordan explained.
Garland has consistently denied any involvement in the investigation into President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, who recently pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of willful failure to pay income taxes. Garland maintains that U.S. Attorney David Wise had full authority in the matter.
Jordan revealed that he had written to Garland in February, suggesting the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden. However, he did not receive a response, which he found unusual given the typical protocol. Instead, U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who is supposedly handling the case, responded to Jordan’s inquiry.

Implications of the Investigation
Later in the segment, Jordan hinted that the investigation into Hunter Biden “could be more about the president himself,” suggesting a potential impeachment of Joe Biden. However, he emphasized that Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the House Oversight Chair, must complete his investigation before Congress can determine the next steps.
Garland is scheduled to appear before the House Judiciary Committee in September.
