Dr. Eyal Nof, the head of invasive electrophysiology service at the⁤ Sheba Medical Center, explained that Netanyahu sought treatment after ‌a monitoring device he had fitted a week ago ⁣detected ​a ‌transient heart block.

“He was admitted urgently to Sheba Medical Center,” Nof said in a video⁢ alongside professor Roy Beinart, senior ⁤physician and director at the Davidai Arrhythmia Center at Sheba’s Heart​ Institute. “During ⁣the ⁢night we implanted a pacemaker. All went ‌well. The prime minister is feeling very ⁣well this morning.”

A joint statement from Netanyahu’s office and the medical center confirmed that the prime minister‌ is in good health and will be discharged later today after a period of ​recovery. As a result, the Cabinet meeting scheduled for​ today has been postponed⁢ until tomorrow ​morning.

A ‍pacemaker ⁣is a device‍ implanted under the skin near ⁤the​ collarbone to regulate heart rhythm by sending electrical signals to the⁤ heart chambers, preventing ⁤it from beating too slowly.

Netanyahu, 73, was previously hospitalized due to dehydration, during which doctors implanted a heart monitor as a precautionary measure. He was ‌released the following day.

Prior‌ to ⁢his second hospitalization, ​Netanyahu posted a video‍ message ‌on Twitter, updating the public on his health and the need for a pacemaker.

The operation comes ahead of a ‌critical judicial vote in which Netanyahu’s proposed reforms would grant the Israeli parliament more authority in selecting ‌judges ‌and overriding Supreme Court decisions.‍ The vote, originally postponed due to protests, is now scheduled for Monday.
