Lia Thomas and Chloe Cole to address Congress on gender transition risks.

Rep. Mike Johnson to ‍Hold Hearing ⁢on Child Gender Transitions

Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) ⁣has announced an upcoming hearing that aims to shed ‍light⁤ on the “dangers‌ and due process violations“⁢ associated with child gender ⁢transitions. As the chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited ⁢Government, Johnson is determined to expose how⁣ children‌ are being coerced‍ into life-altering gender transition procedures ‌without fully understanding ⁣the implications.

Protecting Families‍ from Coercion

Johnson firmly believes in the need ⁣for‍ federal legislation to protect families from such⁤ coercion. He wants to ensure that children are⁣ not subjected to medically questionable procedures without ⁣the ‌informed ‍consent of their parents.

Witness Testimonies

One‍ of the witnesses scheduled⁣ to testify at the hearing⁢ is‍ Chloe Cole, an 18-year-old detransitioner and‍ advocate⁢ against child ‍transitions. Cole’s⁣ personal experience includes being put on puberty blockers at the age ⁤of 13 and undergoing‍ a testosterone regimen ‌shortly after. She even underwent a double mastectomy at the ⁤age of⁣ 15. Cole’s testimony will shed light on the impact of these procedures on her mental health and‍ overall well-being.

Another witness, ⁣Paula Scanlan, a former University of‌ Pennsylvania athlete, will also share her concerns about the ‍policy that ⁢”silences” female teammates who feel uncomfortable sharing a locker⁤ room with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.

Addressing Controversial Practices

Johnson’s home state ⁤of Louisiana recently passed a ban on gender ‌transition‍ procedures for children,⁢ overriding the veto from Gov. John Bel Edwards ‌(D-LA). This hearing will ‍further explore the ‌issue and⁤ raise awareness about the need for stricter ⁤regulations.

Furthermore, a‌ recent investigation by the Washington Examiner‍ uncovered how doctors‍ at Children’s Hospital New Orleans were able to bypass parental consent using permissive ⁤minor consent laws and electronic medical ‌records software. This alarming discovery highlights the urgency of addressing these controversial practices.

The House‍ hearing is scheduled ‍to ⁣take⁣ place⁤ on July 27 at ‌10 a.m. EDT.
