The tragedy unfolded when Campbell went missing on Sunday evening. Local authorities received a distress call from the Obama residence, reporting that an adult male paddle boarder was struggling to stay afloat before disappearing beneath the water’s surface.
According to witnesses, Campbell appeared to struggle momentarily before vanishing. Despite the efforts of fellow paddle boarders in the area, he did not resurface. Campbell’s culinary talents were highly regarded, and he had the honor of working for the Obamas after leaving the White House in 2017. Notably, he was known for brewing White House honey ale beer using honey harvested from the South Lawn garden.
