Geraldo pitches new show after ‘The Five’ firing. Who would watch?
You Can’t Take “The Five” Out of Geraldo Rivera
Geraldo Rivera may have left ”The Five” and Fox News, but it seems like he can’t get the show out of his mind. As he plans his return to TV, Rivera is pitching a new show idea that bears a striking resemblance to his former gig.
In a tweet, Rivera proposed the title “#TheFour” for his show, acknowledging that it’s derivative but still a competitive idea for any cable news channel. He envisions a diverse quartet of outspoken commentators, including himself, covering the day’s major events in the 4:00pm ET hour.
How’s this for a show idea? #TheFour
(Seriously)
I know it’s derivative, but it’s still a good idea that could competitively run on any cable news channel. An eclectic, diverse quartet of outspoken commentators-including me-covering the great events of the day, running in the…— Geraldo Rivera (@GeraldoRivera) July 25, 2023
However, Twitter users were less than enthusiastic about Rivera’s idea. Some suggested that it was time for the 80-year-old to retire, while others simply couldn’t take him seriously anymore. The response was far from positive.
LOL … the other three would never get a word in edgewise w/ your consistent penchant for interrupting. Just enjoy your retirement GR. https://t.co/zR3UBhP249

Despite the criticism, Rivera seems determined to reinvent himself and win over left-wing voters. Since leaving Fox News, he has been openly critical of conservatives he once worked with, such as Tucker Carlson. Rivera accused Carlson of being a conspiracy theorist and vowed to dedicate his remaining energy to prevent Trump from being reelected.
Given his rocky history and divisive views, it’s hard to imagine that Rivera’s proposed show would find an audience. Twitter users made their opinions clear, with many questioning the need for another show like “The View.”
It seems that Rivera’s return to TV may not be as successful as he hopes. Only time will tell if his new show idea gains any traction, but for now, it’s safe to say that many people are skeptical.
