The Department of Justice on Wednesday made a stunning offer ‌to Hunter Biden, granting⁣ him broad legal immunity from all⁢ tax crimes committed between ⁢2014 and 2019, as well as any drug ⁣or firearm charges.

This ⁢new deal comes swiftly after the collapse ⁢of Hunter Biden’s initial plea agreement, which was marred by ⁤a series of unusual last-minute disputes between his attorneys and federal ⁤prosecutors. Hunter Biden’s attorney, Chris Clark, declared the agreement “null and⁣ void” when a top prosecutor stated that‍ it ⁢would not provide permanent legal immunity for the first son, as reported by the⁣ New York Times.

The revised plea deal struck⁢ between Hunter Biden and his attorneys⁢ and ⁢prosecutors now ⁣awaits approval from Judge Maryellen Noreika. During the proceedings, Judge Noreika raised‌ concerns‍ about the parameters of the initial agreement, prompting Hunter Biden’s attorney to call off⁢ the plea agreement. The court was then recessed to allow both sides to ‍find a solution.

Under the original⁢ agreement, Hunter Biden was expected to plead guilty to two misdemeanor⁤ tax charges for willfully evading income taxes⁣ in⁤ 2017 ⁢and 2018. However, Republicans criticized this ‍deal,‍ labeling it a “sweetheart deal,” especially after testimony from two IRS whistleblowers who claimed ⁢that Hunter Biden should have faced felony charges. The ⁣updated plea deal is likely to ignite⁢ further criticism.

This is a developing story and will be updated with additional information.
