Sarah Bedford claims that Hunter Biden’s presence in court supports the IRS whistleblower’s testimony.
Whistleblowers and Court Appearance: Hunter Biden’s Case
Investigative reporter Sarah Bedford from the Washington Examiner has made a significant statement regarding Hunter Biden’s recent court appearance. According to Bedford, his plea of “not guilty” in court aligns with the claims made by two Internal Revenue Service (IRS) whistleblowers. This development comes after Judge Maryellen Noreika in Delaware declined to accept a plea deal, citing an ongoing investigation. Just a week ago, the IRS agents testified in Congress, revealing that prosecutors denied them access to information found on Hunter Biden’s laptop.
Corroborating Evidence
During an appearance on Fox News, Bedford emphasized that the events in the courtroom support the whistleblowers’ claims. She highlighted the documentary evidence, anonymous testimony from FBI officials, and the mishandling of the case by the U.S. attorney’s office. Bedford also pointed out that the judge who rejected Hunter Biden’s plea deal had donated to former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, dispelling any notion of partisan bias.
Judge Noreika’s Background
Judge Noreika, a Delaware federal district judge appointed by former President Donald Trump, enjoyed bipartisan support and the endorsement of both Democratic home-state senators. This further underscores the impartiality of her decision.
IRS Agents’ Testimony
During their testimony in front of the House Oversight Committee, IRS agents Gary Shapley and Joe Ziegler revealed that they were denied access to Hunter Biden’s laptop. Ziegler had specifically requested access during a meeting with investigators, but prosecutors refused to provide it. Federal prosecutor Lesley Wolf informed Ziegler that the decision not to grant access was deliberate.
Furthermore, the agents disclosed that their request for a search warrant of Joe Biden’s guest house, where Hunter Biden had been staying, was denied. Wolf believed that executing the search warrant would create negative optics.
