Delaware to start $1,691 direct food stamp payments in 8 days.
Delaware’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program: August Payments Coming Soon!
Get ready, Delaware! In just eight days, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will begin distributing August payments worth up to $1,691. It’s time to make sure you’re prepared to receive your benefits.
When Will Payments Arrive?
Delaware’s SNAP payments kick off on the second day of each month. The amount you receive depends on the size of your household. Single households can expect $281, while larger households with eight members can receive the maximum amount of $1,691. And for each additional person, an extra $211 can be added to your payment.
Longest Payment Window in the United States
Did you know that Delaware offers one of the longest payment windows in the country? You have over three-quarters of the month to receive your benefits. The specific day you’ll get your payment depends on the first letter of your last name. With 22 distribution days, you’ll have plenty of time to plan ahead. The next cycle of payments will begin next week, so mark your calendars!
Qualifying for SNAP Payments
To qualify for SNAP payments, your household’s gross monthly income cannot exceed 200% of the federal poverty level. For single households, the income limit is $2,266 per month, while eight-person households must not exceed $7,772. Remember, children who are 21 years old and younger must apply with their parents.
Using Your SNAP Benefits
Once you receive your benefits, they will be loaded onto an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card. This card works just like a credit card, but it can only be used for purchasing food and nonalcoholic drinks. Unfortunately, you can’t use your SNAP funds for alcohol or other luxuries.
Keep Your Benefits Rolling
Here’s some good news: the funds you receive each month will carry over into the next. As long as you continue to use your EBT card regularly, the funds will stay on the card without expiring. So make sure to put your benefits to good use!
Remember, SNAP is active across all states and Washington, D.C., with some variations in the program. Stay informed and take advantage of the support available to you.
