DeSantis revamps campaign, slashes staff by over a third.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ‍Makes Bold Moves to Reset Presidential Campaign

Florida ‌Governor Ron DeSantis has taken decisive ‌action to revamp his presidential campaign after a rocky start.‍ In a ⁤surprising move, DeSantis has cut over a third of ‍his campaign staff, signaling a commitment to course correction and a renewed focus on securing the Republican nomination.

DeSantis faces‌ stiff⁤ competition ⁣in the crowded field, with former President Donald Trump currently dominating the race. However, ‌DeSantis ⁣has consistently polled as Trump’s most formidable GOP opponent, often securing second place in Real Clear Politics polling averages.

While the DeSantis campaign raised⁢ an impressive $20 million in the second quarter of the year, it quickly burned through 40% of ‍that total. ⁤Campaign manager Generra Peck acknowledged the overspending ⁣issue during a recent retreat with donors,‍ prompting the need⁣ for a strategic realignment.

As part of this course correction, 38 members‌ of the campaign’s 90-plus staff have been let go, including two top advisors who ⁤have joined an outside group. These cuts aim to streamline operations and position Governor DeSantis for‌ success in the primary race against Joe⁤ Biden.

In a statement, Peck emphasized the⁣ campaign’s commitment to putting DeSantis in the strongest position possible: “Following a top-to-bottom review of our organization, we have taken additional, aggressive steps to streamline operations and⁣ put Ron DeSantis in ⁣the strongest position to win this ⁣primary and defeat‌ Joe Biden. Gov. DeSantis is going to lead ‌the Great American Comeback, and we’re⁣ ready to hit the ground running as we head into an important month of ⁤the campaign.”

Notably, one staffer who was reportedly behind controversial online ⁢videos, including one featuring a⁢ Nazi symbol, was also let go in the staff cuts.

In addition to ‌the staffing changes, DeSantis has adjusted his campaign strategy. He ‍recently ⁤granted a ⁤sit-down interview to CNN’s Jake Tapper, a departure ⁢from his⁤ usual ⁢preference for right-of-center media outlets.

With six months remaining until ⁣the first primary, DeSantis has ample time to implement these changes and regain momentum. While campaign shakeups ‍can⁢ be concerning, political correspondent Byron York‍ suggests that they can ‌also serve‍ as a wake-up call for candidates to address serious issues‌ within their organizations.

The ⁤DeSantis campaign has reassured supporters⁤ that it has addressed its challenges and is moving forward. In a note to supporters, the campaign stated, “No campaign is immune to changes, cuts, or challenges – our campaign acknowledged‍ that aggressive⁣ steps needed to⁤ be taken and executed on the plan.”
