CNN’s Expose on Family Forced to ‘Flee’ Florida Epically Backfires, Becomes ‘Perfect Ad’ for State
CNN recently faced backlash on Twitter after sharing a disingenuous sob story about a liberal family who claimed they were forced to leave Florida due to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis banning sex-change procedures for children.

The McKee family claimed that they were moving because of the political climate and laws in Florida, despite not wanting to leave. Their son, Tori, identified as a girl and had started taking hormone blockers at a young age.
However, DeSantis had signed legislation in May that banned sex-change procedures for minors in Florida. The governor emphasized the importance of protecting children’s mental and physical health.

The CNN story received significant backlash on Twitter, with many users mocking the network and the McKee family. Some saw it as a marketing campaign for Florida, highlighting the state’s commitment to protecting children from potentially harmful procedures.
Others expressed disgust at the idea of parents supporting dangerous gender procedures on their children. They questioned the ethics of using children as political tools.
While some speculated that the family might move to California, known for its left-wing policies, others pointed out the state’s high cost of living and rampant crime.
It is concerning that some individuals argue for allowing children to undergo hormone-altering drugs or surgical procedures without considering the potential long-term consequences. Minimum age requirements exist for various medical and cosmetic procedures, and yet, the same standards are not applied to gender-related treatments.
Overall, CNN’s attempt to portray the McKee family as victims backfired, with many seeing it as a perfect advertisement for Florida’s commitment to protecting children’s well-being.
Some users saw the CNN story as an excellent marketing campaign for Florida, highlighting the state’s commitment to protecting children’s well-being. Others expressed concern over parents supporting dangerous gender procedures on their children. The debate surrounding these issues continues.
It is mind-boggling for any reasonable person — let alone an entire political party — to shriek that impressionable children should be allowed to undergo bodily mutilation or take “gender-altering” drugs on a whim. There are minimum age requirements for most medical or cosmetic procedures, including getting your ears pierced or undergoing plastic surgery. Even hardcore leftists don’t claim these restrictions are tyrannical. So why do they insist that allowing children to take hormone-altering drugs or undergo surgical procedures that leave them mutilated for life is oppressive?
