US General slain near Aberdeen Proving Ground – First responders race to scene.
Tragic Plane Crash Claims Life of U.S. General
A U.S. general tragically lost his life in a plane crash near Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland on July 25, according to a report by Defense News.
Maj. Gen. Anthony Potts, a highly respected Army acquisitions officer and aviator, was the sole occupant of the single-engine Piper PA-28 aircraft when it went down in a field, as reported by the Harford County Sheriff’s Office and local media outlets.
Despite the efforts of first responders, Potts tragically passed away at the scene.
Potts, who had dedicated nearly four decades of service to the Army and most recently led the Army’s Program Executive Office Command, Control and Communications-Tactical (PEO C3T), had plans to retire in the near future.
The National Transportation Security Bureau is currently investigating the crash, as stated in a tweet.

According to the Level Volunteer Fire Company, dozens of first responders swiftly arrived at the field in Havre de Grace, Maryland, where the crash occurred. Fortunately, no one else was injured.
Potts’ impressive career included overseeing the development, deployment, and maintenance of all battlefield communications gear. He also previously led PEO Soldier, a program focused on conventional equipment such as uniforms, body armor, night-vision devices, and firearms.
Both of these roles were crucial in safeguarding U.S. troops and advancing Army tactics, as highlighted by Defense News.
Maj. Gen. Robert Collins, who preceded Potts as the leader of PEO C3T, praised his strategic thinking and team-building abilities.
