President Joe Biden Acknowledges Granddaughter in Public Statement
President Joe Biden made a heartfelt statement on Friday, publicly acknowledging his 4-year-old granddaughter for the first time. The president, along with first lady Jill Biden, shared their thoughts on Navy Joan Roberts, the daughter of Hunter Biden and Lunden Roberts, in an exclusive interview with People magazine.
“Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward,” Joe Biden said.
Navy Joan Roberts, who resides in Arkansas, is one of the president’s seven grandchildren. However, she has been the only grandchild that Joe Biden has not publicly introduced, despite the significance of family being a cornerstone of his presidency.
“This is not a political issue, it’s a family matter,” Joe Biden’s statement emphasized. “Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy.”
This statement comes in the wake of a plea deal between Hunter Biden and the Justice Department, which fell through due to concerns raised by a federal judge regarding the terms of the agreement.
Hunter Biden initially denied paternity, leading to Roberts filing a paternity dispute in 2019. However, a paternity test confirmed that Navy was indeed Hunter Biden’s child. In 2020, he agreed to pay $20,000 per month in child support.
Just last month, Hunter Biden settled the child support case in an Arkansas state court after attempting to reduce the monthly payments. While the exact amount of his monthly child support payments after the settlement remains unclear, it has been stated that he will also provide Navy with some of his paintings. It is worth noting that Navy’s last name will not be Biden, as Roberts had previously attempted to change it.
Hunter Biden’s Family
Hunter Biden is the father of five children. He shares three daughters, Naomi, Finnegan, and Maisy, with his ex-wife Kathleen Buhle. In 2020, he welcomed his youngest son, Beau Biden Jr., with his current wife, Melissa Cohen. Navy, born in 2018, is his daughter with Lunden Roberts.
