If convicted, Trump promises to run for president while in prison.
Former President Donald Trump Vows to Run for President from Prison Cell
In a bold and defiant statement, former President Donald Trump declared on Friday that he would not let a potential conviction in his criminal cases deter him from running for president again. During an appearance on a pro-Trump radio show, Trump confidently asserted that even if he were imprisoned, he would continue his political ambitions.
“Not at all. There’s nothing in the Constitution to say that it could,” Trump said. “Even the radical Left crazies are saying, ‘No, that wouldn’t stop!’ And it wouldn’t stop me either.”
Trump’s unwavering determination was further emphasized when he took to social media to call for the imprisonment of Special Counsel Jack Smith, who is prosecuting the federal criminal investigations against him. Trump expressed his frustration with what he perceives as a weaponization of the Department of Justice and raised questions about the handling of previous cases involving prominent figures.
“They ought to throw Deranged Jack Smith and his Thug Prosecutors in jail, with Meritless Garland and Trump Hating Lisa Monaco,” Trump wrote. “They have totally Weaponized the Department of Injustice. Whatever happened to the Crooked Joe Biden Boxes Case? Why was Hillary Clinton allowed to delete 33,000 emails, many of them Classified, AFTER getting a Subpoena from Congress? Why was Bill Clinton allowed to take tapes out of the W.H. in his socks? Why has no other President ever been charged? ELECTION FRAUD!”
These defiant remarks from the former president come in the wake of his recent charges in the federal criminal probe into his handling of classified information after leaving the White House. Trump now faces three additional counts, including willful retention of national defense information and obstruction charges related to alleged attempts to tamper with evidence.
One significant development in the case is the revelation that prosecutors possess the document that Trump allegedly showed to a writer and a publisher during a recorded interview. This new superseding indictment strengthens the prosecution’s case against him.

Previously, Trump had dismissed the allegations, claiming that he was merely displaying bravado and not actually holding any classified documents. However, the superseding indictment contradicts his statements, confirming that prosecutors now have the document in their possession.
