Trump criticizes Biden’s family’s foreign business deals in campaign speech.
Former President Donald Trump Slams President Biden and Focuses on Family’s Business Dealings
During a campaign rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump passionately criticized President Joe Biden and his family’s business dealings. While he briefly mentioned his opponent, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Trump primarily directed his attacks towards Biden.
Attacking Allegations of Corruption and Self-Dealing
Trump vehemently attacked allegations of corruption and self-dealing within Biden’s family, questioning his mental state, policies, and the state of the economy under his administration.
Trump’s Thoughts on DeSantis
Despite holding a significant lead in the polls, Trump only sporadically targeted DeSantis during the rally. He acknowledged that if DeSantis were to overcome this deficit, it would be an unprecedented political comeback. Trump even referred to him as a “son of a bi***” when discussing DeSantis’ refusal to comment on his presidential aspirations before officially announcing his candidacy.
Current polls indicate that Trump has a substantial lead over the Florida governor. According to the Real Clear Politics polling average, Trump stands at 52.4%, while DeSantis trails at 18.2%. All other candidates fall below 6%.
Focusing on Biden
Given his commanding position in the polls, Trump dedicated most of his time to attacking Biden. He emphasized the recent findings by the House Oversight, Judiciary, and Ways and Means Committees, commending Chairmen Jim Jordan (R-OH) and James Comer (R-KY) for their investigative work on the Biden family.
Trump even bestowed the nickname “Crooked Joe” upon Biden, previously used for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election. He claimed that the evidence uncovered by the House investigations justified this new moniker.
“A bombshell FBI document laying out a massive bribery scheme in which Hunter and Joe Biden shook down a Ukrainian energy boss, shook him down, an energy boss, a big one for $10 million. So that, as the executive said, ‘Hunter can protect us through his dad from all kinds of problems,'” Trump exclaimed.
Trump referred to the FBI-generated FD-1023 tip sheet released earlier this month, which alleged that Mykola Zlochevsky, the head of Ukrainian energy company Burisma, paid both Vice President Joe Biden and Hunter Biden $5 million each to pressure the Ukrainian government into firing a prosecutor investigating Burisma. These allegations remain unverified.
Without providing any evidence, Trump insinuated that Biden’s support for Ukraine’s military assistance against a Russian invasion stemmed from these alleged payments from Ukraine.
Trump also targeted Biden’s son’s business deals in China, claiming that money would be funneled through various accounts before reaching a Biden family member’s bank account.
“They took in millions,” Trump asserted. “This is the biggest scandal in US history, and perhaps the world, and yet the media doesn’t want to report on it.”
Trump urged Republicans to take action based on the information revealed by the House investigations, stating that any Republican who fails to act should face immediate primary challenges.
“The biggest complaint that I get is that the Republicans find out this information, and then they do nothing about it. They don’t do anything about it,” Trump expressed. “It all dies. You know they die. The radical lunatic Democrats, they impeach me, they indict me, they rig our elections, and the Republicans just don’t fight.”
While Trump did not explicitly call for the House to impeach Biden, he strongly urged them to “act” on the uncovered information.
