Voddie Baucham talks about Biblical justice and masculinity on the latest ‘Sunday Special’.
Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro Discusses Biblical Justice and Masculinity with Dr. Voddie Baucham
Biblical justice and masculinity were the topics of discussion when Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro sat down with Dr. Voddie Baucham, a Christian pastor and author, on the latest episode of “The Sunday Special.”
Dr. Baucham, the dean of theology at African Christian University in Lusaka, Zambia, shared his insights on the biblical perspective of social justice and how woke ideology has infiltrated some Christian churches.
“When you have weak and faulty worldviews and then seductive language, and then you have leaders with unclear voices, you end up in the mess we’re in,” Baucham told Shapiro.
According to Baucham, Christians believe in God’s justice, which entails “the righteous and equal application of God’s law, but not equal outcomes.” In his book “Fault Lines: The Social Justice Movement and Evangelicalism’s Looming Catastrophe,” published in 2021, Baucham delves deeper into this subject.
Dr. Baucham’s personal journey is also noteworthy. Raised by a single Buddhist mother in South Central Los Angeles, he initially leaned towards black nationalism before his conversion to Christianity. This transformation completely changed his worldview, as he came to realize his own sinfulness and the need for redemption.
Shapiro and Baucham also explored the crisis of masculinity in the United States, with many young men struggling to find purpose.
“We have to call men back to this understanding of manhood that is outside of themselves. And you being a man is not just about who you think you are or even who you want to be. It’s about you pointing back to the one who made you. It’s about you pointing back to the purpose for which [God] made you,” Baucham said.
Baucham emphasized that the erosion of traditional roles and the war on marriage have left women vulnerable because men have become unchecked. He stressed the importance of mentors who can guide young men towards embracing their God-given manhood and finding redemption in Christ.

After years of visiting Zambia, Baucham relocated there in 2015 to help establish African Christian University, which focuses on providing students with a Christian worldview and education in the humanities.
Shapiro also asked Baucham about his response to those who object to belief in the Bible and God on an intellectual level. Baucham explained that he challenges their presuppositions, highlighting that their own worldview has led to catastrophic outcomes in the past.
