Tragic Incident Shakes Johnson’s Family
The shocking incident took place in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where Johnson’s wife, Chandra Janway’s parents and 11-year-old nephew were found shot to death in their home on June 26, as reported by the New York Post here. The victims were identified as Jack Janway, 69, his wife Terry, 68, and their grandson Dalton.
According to the authorities, it was Johnson’s mother-in-law, Terry, who tragically took the lives of her husband and grandson before turning the gun on herself. She made a brief 911 call reporting the presence of a gun before ending the call abruptly. The police arrived at the scene to discover a body near the front door and heard gunshots, prompting them to remove the body from the house and call for anyone else inside to come out. The other two bodies were found in a different area of the house.
The police have not disclosed the specific locations where the bodies were found.

Johnson, understandably devastated by the tragedy, canceled his participation in a race at a street event in Chicago that was scheduled for the same weekend.
Muskogee Mayor Marlon Coleman, who had a personal connection with the family, expressed his shock and sorrow. He stated, ”It was traumatizing to find out that a long-standing family who had made so many contributions to our community was involved in this type of incident. It was even more bone-chilling to find out there was a child involved. I knew Dr. Janway. Dr. Janway has worked on me, we’ve been acquaintances for a very, very long time since I’ve been in Muskogee. Just knowing that it was him and his family took a different toll on me.”
This is not the first tragedy that the Janway family has endured. In 2014, Chandra’s younger brother, Jordan Janway, lost his life in a skydiving accident, as reported by KNSD-TV here. Jordan, an experienced skydiver, tragically died following a midair collision. The news came shortly after Johnson finished second in a race at Martinsville Speedway.
