Pence criticizes DeSantis over super PAC coordination, promises separate bus.

Former Vice President ‍Mike⁤ Pence Takes Subtle Shot at Gov. Ron DeSantis

Former Vice President Mike Pence recently made ⁤a sly remark about fellow Republican presidential primary candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), hinting at their differing campaign strategies. When ‍asked about DeSantis’ bus tour with a supportive super PAC and whether it violates election ‌laws,‌ Pence responded, “we’ll get our own bus.”

Pence’s Interview and the Role⁤ of Committed ⁤to America PAC

In a⁢ recent interview, Pence was questioned about whether his own super PAC, Committed to America, ⁤would engage⁣ in a similar bus tour like DeSantis’ Iowa campaign. The Florida ⁣governor’s tour was organized by the pro-DeSantis super⁢ PAC Never Back Down.

Pence ⁣clarified, “We don’t coordinate with the Committed to‍ America PAC.” However, he expressed gratitude for their efforts,‌ particularly in Iowa. He mentioned that he⁢ receives reports on their ground activities and results, highlighting their conversations with hundreds of thousands of caucusgoers and their ability to effectively convey‍ his story.

Pence confidently stated, “Actually, in their contacts, we’re running a solid second⁤ place in Iowa. So I’m grateful for that.”

Questions Surrounding DeSantis’ ‍Super PAC

There have been concerns raised about the legality of the⁣ close association between the pro-DeSantis super PAC and the Florida governor. Some argue that their actions may blur the lines of ⁣election law, or at the very least, raise questions⁣ about compliance.

Never Back Down, as an independent expenditure-only political committee, has the ‌ability to raise unlimited contributions for independent ⁣expenditures and political activities. However, it has also been actively involved in ‍grassroots promotion of DeSantis. The group has already knocked on ⁤1 million doors⁣ nationwide,‍ with a particular focus on early primary ‍states like Iowa. Additionally, they have ‍established “Students for DeSantis” chapters on 100 college‌ campuses across the country.
