U.S. Senator Katie Britt hospitalized due to sudden facial numbness.
Senator Katie Britt Hospitalized After Experiencing Facial Numbness
Alabama Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) revealed in a statement on Monday that she had been hospitalized over the weekend due to a sudden onset of numbness in her face. The news has sparked concern among her supporters and colleagues.
According to Britt, doctors determined that the cause of the facial numbness was the swelling of a nerve in her face, which was likely a result of a post-viral infection. She shared her experience, stating, “While with my family in Montgomery this past weekend, I experienced a sudden onset of numbness in my face. I was admitted to Baptist Medical Center South for evaluation. Doctors determined that my symptoms were a result of swelling of a facial nerve, most likely caused by a post-viral infection.”
Britt sought a second medical opinion to confirm the diagnosis, and fortunately, the specialist concurred with the initial prognosis. She expressed her gratitude for the medical professionals providing excellent care and the support of her family and well-wishers. She assured everyone that her condition is not life-threatening, although recovery may take several weeks. She concluded, “My family and I are deeply grateful for your prayers.”
Currently, Britt is back at home and recovering. She will be receiving outpatient treatment to address the swelling of the facial nerve. Her supporters eagerly await her full recovery and return to her duties as a senator.
It is worth noting that Senator Katie Britt emerged victorious in Alabama’s Republican Party primary runoff election last year, defeating Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL).
