PAC slams Cruz for Cancun trip: ‘Keep his vacation forever’

A Super PAC Takes Aim at Senator ‍Ted Cruz’s Cancun‌ Trip During ⁤Texas Winter ⁤Storm

A super PAC dedicated to removing Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) from office has launched a captivating new advertisement criticizing⁣ his decision to vacation in Cancun during a devastating winter storm in Texas.

The Lose Cruz ‌PAC, a recently established seven-figure super PAC by Democrats, unveiled the ad titled ⁤”Find Your Beach” ‍on Tuesday. The ad features an actor resembling Cruz sitting⁤ on a beach, listening to news coverage of the Texas storm.

“This morning, the humanitarian crisis in Texas is accelerating,”

the ad declares, showcasing a 2021 clip highlighting the severe weather. “Billions still without power or ⁢water, hospitals⁢ around the state pushed to‌ their limits, and the ⁢death toll continues to rise.”

The ad concludes with Cruz symbolically throwing his phone into the‌ sand while criticism ⁣of his⁣ trip plays⁣ in the background, accompanied by the words “Make Ted’s Vacation Permanent.”

“Senator Ted ⁣Cruz made time⁢ for ⁢a family vacation in the middle of our‌ state’s⁢ historic winter storm,”

the ⁢ad states. “The images were everywhere today, showing the ‍Texas senator boarding that⁢ flight to Mexico with his family. This is inexcusable, and Texas should be outraged.”

Cruz faced significant⁣ backlash⁢ for leaving his state in 2021 to go on a family vacation⁢ to Mexico amidst freezing ⁢temperatures and destructive winds that‍ resulted in at least 210 deaths, according to the state’s comptroller.

Both Republicans and ⁤Democrats are‍ focused on ‍gaining or retaining Senate seats in the upcoming 2024 elections. Cruz narrowly defeated Democratic Rep. Beto⁤ O’Rourke in the 2018 Senate race⁤ and has since been polling as widely unpopular in his state.

The race⁢ to unseat Cruz‌ is heating up, with several high-profile Democratic candidates entering the competition. State Sen. Roland⁣ Gutierrez joined the race ⁤in July,⁤ joining state Rep. Colin Allred.

The Washington Examiner has reached ⁢out to Cruz for comment.
