Biden Administration pulls troops from border due to surge in migrants.

The Biden administration is making the controversial decision ⁤to pull troops from the southern border, even as the number of migrant crossings continues to ‍surge.

An anonymous⁤ Defense​ Department official revealed to the‌ Associated Press⁣ that the Pentagon ⁣plans to ⁤withdraw‍ 1,100 troops from the border by August 8.​ Initially ‍deployed⁢ by Defense Secretary Lloyd​ Austin in May for a‌ 90-day period, these troops were sent to address the influx of migrants as Title 42, a pandemic-era rule that ⁢allowed officials to turn migrants away, ‍was set to expire. However, Austin has authorized 400 troops to remain at the border until August 31.

The troops being​ withdrawn were providing crucial support in tasks such as warehouse operations and data entry, which ⁣helped ⁢alleviate the workload of Customs and Border ‌Protection (CBP) agents.

This decision comes at a⁤ time when the border ‌is experiencing a‍ significant increase in crossings, particularly ⁤in Arizona. According to⁤ the Texas‌ Tribune report:

U.S. agents made ⁢over 130,000 ‍arrests along the Mexico border last⁢ month, a notable rise from the ‍99,545 ⁢arrests made in June. Additionally, authorities ⁤allowed approximately 50,000 migrants to enter the ‌United States in July, primarily through Biden‍ administration programs that enable‌ asylum seekers to schedule appointments at U.S. ports of entry using the CBP One mobile application.

The surge in illegal​ crossings was ⁤particularly prominent in the scorching deserts of southern Arizona, ⁢where U.S. agents made ‌around 40,000 arrests in July. ⁣This represents the​ highest one-month ​total for‌ the ⁤Tucson sector in the ‍past 15 years, as per CBP⁣ data.

This development follows a⁤ report by the Washington Free ⁣Beacon highlighting the White House’s disregard for its own limits on asylum-seekers,‍ allowing a greater number of migrants to enter the country.
