Braves’ Max Fried tames Cubs upon return.
Max Fried Dominates as Braves Defeat Cubs 8-0
In a thrilling opener of their three-game series, the Atlanta Braves secured an impressive 8-0 victory against the Chicago Cubs. Max Fried, making his first start in nearly three months, delivered a stellar performance, throwing six shutout innings. The left-hander allowed only three hits, struck out eight, and didn’t issue a single walk. Fried’s return to the mound after recovering from a strained left forearm was a major boost for the Braves.
The Braves’ offense was firing on all cylinders as well. Sean Murphy, Marcell Ozuna, and Austin Riley all hit home runs, while Ronald Acuna Jr. contributed three hits to the team’s impressive win. With this victory, the Braves have now won six of their last seven games, showing their dominance in the league.
Kyle Hendricks Struggles as Cubs Fall Short
On the other side, the Chicago Cubs couldn’t find their rhythm against the Braves. Starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks had a tough outing, allowing seven runs, all in the fourth inning, and eight hits over four innings. Despite striking out three batters and not issuing any walks, Hendricks couldn’t contain the Braves’ explosive offense.
Cody Bellinger was one of the few bright spots for the Cubs, collecting two of the team’s four hits. However, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Braves’ dominant performance.
