Jack Smith admits to not providing all evidence to Trump’s legal team, apologizes for the mistake.

Special Counsel Admits Withholding Evidence from Trump’s Legal Team

In a ‌surprising turn of events, special counsel Jack Smith’s team has admitted that they did not provide all the evidence to former President Donald Trump’s legal ⁢team, despite previous claims to the contrary.

Smith has brought forth a total of 40 counts against Trump, including allegations of unlawfully retaining classified documents after leaving office and lying to the government about document handover.

In a recent court filing, Smith’s team‌ accused Trump of instructing his⁢ security staff to delete security tapes from his Mar-a-Lago resort just months before the FBI raided the property.

The indictment also named Mar-a-Lago property manager Carlos De Oliveira and Trump aide ⁣Waltine “Walt” Nauta as co-conspirators.

However, it ⁣now appears that Smith’s team is the one withholding crucial evidence. In a ‍court filing, they admitted to failing to upload video footage from Mar-a-Lago‍ to a platform where ⁤Trump’s defense team could review⁣ it, as required by law.

This‌ revelation has raised questions about ‍the prosecution’s adherence to the Brady rule, which mandates the disclosure of exculpatory⁤ information ‌to the defense.

Smith’s team acknowledged their duty to ‌disclose any newly discovered information, but the damage has already‍ been done.

When the ⁣superseding indictment was first announced, Trump’s campaign dismissed it as a desperate attempt to prevent him from running for office again⁤ in 2024.

Trump, who is currently ⁢the⁣ top contender for the Republican presidential nomination, has remained ⁣defiant in ‌the face of these allegations, vowing to ‌fight back against any attacks ‍on his character.

As the legal battle continues, it remains to be seen how this revelation will impact the⁤ case against Trump and⁢ his political future.
