Seattle Times fires editorial board member for comparing Lenin and Hitler on Twitter.

A Journalist’s Battle Against Cancel Culture

In⁣ a shocking turn of events, a journalist with a personal connection to the horrors of Nazi Germany found himself at the center of ⁤a controversy that ⁤cost him his job. David Josef Volodzko, a former editorial board member for ‍The ⁣Seattle Times, was accused of “defending” Adolf Hitler on Twitter.

Volodzko’s journey into‌ journalism began with a desire to shed ⁣light on injustices around the world. For 15 years, he ‍dedicated‍ himself to ⁣covering stories about refugees, ⁣prisoners of war, and the ravages of war itself. However, ⁤nothing could have prepared⁤ him for the onslaught⁢ of cancel culture.

“In ‍fact, while Hitler has ⁤become the great symbol of⁢ evil in ‌history⁣ books, he too was less evil ⁤than Lenin because Hitler only targeted people he personally believed⁢ were harmful to society whereas Lenin targeted even those he himself didn’t‍ believe were harmful in any ‌way,” Volodzko wrote in a now-deleted tweet.

These words, taken out ⁣of context, led‍ to accusations of defending Hitler and even threats to Volodzko’s life. Despite initially receiving support from his employer, he was ultimately⁢ fired for “poor judgment” and “continuing to engage online.” The paper later issued an apology, but the damage had already been done.

Undeterred, Volodzko has turned to his Substack, “The Radicalist,” to continue‌ his work. ⁣Here,‍ he delves into the world of political extremism,⁢ from communism to fascism, and explores the chilling effects of cancel ‍culture.

Recently, Elon Musk, the CEO of X⁤ (formerly known as Tesla), made a bold announcement.⁣ He vowed to fight for ⁢individuals who face repercussions ⁢from their⁣ employers due to their actions on his platform. Volodzko, seizing⁢ the opportunity, shared his ⁤Substack essay with Musk, who ‍responded with encouragement.

“This does sound like a good ‌case,” Musk acknowledged.

While the outcome remains uncertain, Musk’s support offers ‍a glimmer of hope for Volodzko and ⁣his family.⁤ In the face of adversity, this⁢ journalist refuses to be silenced, fighting against the forces of cancel culture and ⁢advocating for free expression.
