Facebook documents show that an FBI agent made false statements about Hunter Biden’s laptop during a congressional hearing, according to Jordan.
An FBI Agent Allegedly Made False Statements About Suppressing Hunter Biden Laptop Story on Social Media
In his latest edition of the “Facebook Files,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) accused an FBI agent of making “completely false” statements during a congressional deposition regarding the agency’s role in suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story on social media platforms.
Jordan, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, revealed internal Facebook communications that implicated San Francisco-based FBI Special Agent Elvis Chan as the main conduit between the bureau’s Foreign Influence Task Force and big tech companies in suppressing the scandalous story. The story involved alleged foreign business deals with then-presidential candidate Joe Biden just weeks before the 2020 election.
During his testimony, Chan claimed that the FBI had not communicated with Facebook outside of a meeting that took place on the same day the New York Post published the Biden laptop article. However, according to Jordan, Chan was involved in a secret “follow-up” call with the social media giant the next day, contradicting his previous statement during a deposition in the government censorship case, Missouri v. Biden.
Furthermore, Chan spoke with a Facebook employee on the same day, informing them that he was up to speed on the matter within the FBI and that there was no current evidence suggesting any foreign connection to the leaks. Jordan highlighted the irony, stating, “Of course, there was ‘no evidence’ of ‘any foreign connection.’ The laptop was real, and the FBI knew it.”
Internal documents also revealed that Chan admitted that Laura Dehmlow, the Section Chief of the Foreign Influence Task Force, instructed executives to respond with “no comment” when asked about the authenticity of the Biden laptop.

The “Twitter Files” released by Elon Musk last year also shed light on Chan’s actions. It was revealed that Chan frequently urged Twitter to remove posts that he believed violated the platform’s terms of service, further supporting the allegations of the FBI’s content moderation tactics for private companies.
On the evening of October 13, hours before the New York Post article was released, Chan sent ten documents to former Twitter Head of Site Integrity Yoel Roth, asserting that they were not spam and requesting confirmation of receipt.
Jordan expressed frustration with the Biden DOJ’s reluctance to allow the Committee to interview Agent Chan, stating, “Is there any wonder why the Biden DOJ has so far stonewalled the Committee’s efforts?” He emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and the Committee will continue to update the public with their findings as they consider legislation to combat censorship and protect the First Amendment.
This report is part of Jordan’s ongoing series of the “Facebook Files,” where he has previously highlighted the Biden administration’s alleged pressure on the social media giant to suppress speech they disagreed with, including limiting The Daily Wire’s reach and boosting legacy media outlets.
