Long Beach, California Residents to ⁢Receive $500 Monthly Payments

Exciting news for residents of Long Beach, California!⁤ The city’s guaranteed income pilot program is set to provide $500‍ a‌ month for 12 months to 250⁣ qualifying families with children. And the best‍ part? The funds will be in their hands in just ⁢eight days!

The Long Beach Pledge, a program launched through⁣ the Long Beach Recovery Act, has allocated $2 million⁤ from the⁢ city to support struggling families in the west-central 90813 ZIP code. These families, who have⁤ been facing financial difficulties, will receive much-needed aid through this ‍initiative. The payments are scheduled to be issued on August 16th, the third Wednesday‍ of⁢ the month, as confirmed by the Fund for Guaranteed Income.

Partnership with the Fund for Guaranteed Income

The program has joined forces with the Fund for Guaranteed Income, a nonprofit⁣ organization dedicated to economic recovery. This collaboration aims to provide‌ assistance to those in need. In addition to the Long Beach program, the Fund for Guaranteed Income has also launched a similar initiative in Compton, California,⁣ benefiting 800 families with payments ranging from $300 to $600.

The selection of recipients in the Long Beach area was based on the highest need, taking into account poverty rates and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Shockingly, approximately half‍ of the residents in this area live below 150% of the poverty level, as stated on the Long Beach Pledge’s website.

Applications for the program closed in February, and now the chosen households can look forward to receiving their payments. They have the option‍ to receive the funds through PayPal, direct deposit, Venmo, or a prepaid card.
