Arizona introduces new PAC files for abortion rights amendment vote.

A⁤ New⁢ Campaign to‍ Protect Abortion Rights in Arizona

A new ⁢abortion advocacy group, Arizona for Abortion Access, has launched ⁤an exciting campaign to add an amendment to the Arizona Constitution ⁤that will⁢ protect abortion‌ rights. This initiative aims to expand the current ‍legal‍ limit of abortion up to 15 weeks gestation in the state.

The Power of Advocacy

Arizona for Abortion Access is a political action committee formed by several pro-abortion rights advocacy groups, including the ⁣American Civil Liberties Union‍ of Arizona, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona, and NARAL Arizona.⁤ Together, they are determined to ‌make a difference.

Chris Love, a ‍board⁢ member of PPAA and the ⁣lead organizer of Arizona for Abortion Access, expressed their commitment to the⁢ cause. Love stated that⁢ the group will start collecting signatures for their amendment as early‍ as mid-September.

A Race Against ‌Time

The proposed language of the amendment will be reviewed by state legislators within⁤ the next 30 days. Arizona for Abortion‍ Access has until July 3, 2024, to ⁢gather the necessary 383,923⁤ valid registered voter signatures. Only then can they secure a spot on the ballot for next year.

Challenging Abortion Limitations Across ‌the Nation

This campaign is not alone⁢ in its fight for abortion rights.⁢ In states with strict abortion‍ limitations, several ⁣ballot measures have been introduced to challenge these restrictions.

Missouri, for example, is ‌facing a constitutional amendment‍ that could overturn the state’s near-total abortion ban.⁢ The people of Missouri will ⁤have the opportunity to vote on this amendment in November⁢ 2024.

Meanwhile, Ohioans are ⁣currently voting to determine whether their state constitution‌ can be amended with a ⁤simple majority vote. This special election was⁣ triggered by a proposed ACLU-backed⁣ amendment that aims to enshrine abortion rights into the⁤ state‍ constitution, effectively invalidating‍ the existing six-week abortion ban.

“Ohio is an important test case,” said Stephen Billy of SBA Pro-Life America. He believes that abortion advocates are seeking alternative routes to protect abortion‌ rights in states with strict limitations. “They can’t succeed through ⁤the legislative process,” Billy added.

Standing Strong for Abortion Access

Despite the 15-week limitation, ⁤Governor Katie Hobbs (D-AZ) has been a staunch supporter of abortion‍ rights. She⁤ has taken steps to increase‌ access to abortion in Arizona and has signed an executive order centralizing authority for prosecuting abortionists who violate⁣ the law under ⁢the governor’s office.

“I will not allow extreme ⁣and out-of-touch politicians to hinder the fundamental rights of Arizonans,” declared Governor Hobbs.

In ⁤addition ⁤to her efforts, Hobbs has also expanded access ⁢to contraception coverage in the state, specifically in response to ⁢abortion restrictions.
