A Huntington Beach committee and a policy, both established decades ago, were⁣ designed to promote respect and combat hate crimes in the city. However, these ​important initiatives may now be in jeopardy.

The⁢ Huntington Beach City⁣ Council recently voted 4–3 on August 1st to ‍eliminate the Human Relations Committee. The council argued that ​this committee is redundant, as the city already allocates $9,000 annually towards similar efforts.
