Philadelphia’s LIHWAP payment application for water bills up to $2,500 ends tomorrow.
Don’t Miss Out on the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program!
Time is Running Out!
The clock is ticking for families in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as the deadline for the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) application approaches. You only have one day left to apply and get the help you need to pay off your overdue water bills.
This temporary summer program, which started on July 10, will be closing its doors on Aug. 11. If you’re an eligible customer of the Philadelphia Water Department, you could receive a one-time crisis grant of up to $2,500 for drinking water services and another grant of the same amount for wastewater services.
Are You Eligible?
To qualify for LIHWAP, you must be facing a crisis situation with your water service. This could mean receiving a notice that your water will be shut off within the next 60 days, having past-due water bills, or even having had your water service terminated.
As a resident of Pennsylvania, you must own or rent your home and meet the required household income limit. The maximum annual income varies depending on the size of your household, ranging from $20,385 for a household of one to $84,105 for a household of ten. For each additional person, the program adds $7,080 to the income limit.
How to Apply
When applying for LIHWAP, make sure to gather the necessary documents. You’ll need to submit the names, birth dates, and proof of income for all household members, as well as a recent water bill.
Don’t wait any longer! Apply now to secure your right to clean drinking water and wastewater services. Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Secretary Valerie Arkoosh emphasizes the importance of this program, stating, “Every Pennsylvanian has a right to clean drinking water that keeps our homes safe and our families healthy.”
