White House requests $40B in additional funding for Ukraine and other necessities from Congress.
The White House Requests Additional Funding for Ukraine and Other Needs
In an effort to support Ukraine and address the ongoing crisis, the White House has made a formal request for additional funding. This request, outlined in a letter sent to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Aug. 10, comes from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director, Shalanda Young.
Military Assistance to Ukraine
The White House is seeking over $13 billion in military assistance for Ukraine and related expenses. This funding will play a crucial role in bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities and ensuring its security in the face of external threats.
Department of Energy Support
In addition to military assistance, the White House is also requesting almost $68.23 million for the Department of Energy. This funding is specifically related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the expenses incurred as a result.
Within this amount, more than $1.94 million is allocated for federal salaries. This investment will enable the Department of Energy to effectively respond to the crisis and provide the necessary resources to address the situation at hand.
