Walgreens Employee Gets a Brutal Surprise After Trying to Stop Shoplifters
Police in Missouri are on the hunt for suspects involved in a shoplifting incident at Walgreens that took a violent turn when an employee tried to intervene.
According to WDAF-TV, the Independence Police Department reported that two teenagers, accompanied by another teenager and an adult, attempted to rob a local Walgreens. However, their intentions went beyond theft.
The incident unfolded when the group entered the Walgreens store, with only one of them wearing sunglasses.
Upon leaving, one of the teens who initially didn’t have sunglasses was now wearing a pair. A female Walgreens employee in her 60s confronted the adult and requested payment for the sunglasses, but her request was met with refusal. Subsequently, two of the teenagers reentered the store.
One of the teens grabbed a Sprite and sprayed it in the employee’s face, but the employee managed to shield herself. Disturbing video footage captured one of the teenagers repeatedly punching the employee in the face outside the store. The force of the attack caused the woman to fall to the ground, hitting her head on the concrete. In the background, another teenager can be heard yelling.
The police are now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the teenagers involved in this violent altercation.
Shocking and Disturbing
Jack Taylor, a spokesman for the Independence Police, expressed his shock and dismay regarding the incident in an interview with WDAF. “I was shocked to see something like that,” he said. “It’s kind of disturbing to watch.”
This incident is not only shocking and disturbing, but it also sheds light on the current state of law and crime in the United States today.
Unfortunately, due to lenient “soft-on-crime” policies, petty crimes like shoplifting have essentially been decriminalized. Police are discouraged from pursuing criminals, and store employees have limited authority to take action.
When lawlessness goes unchecked, it breeds more lawlessness. Criminals become emboldened when they realize that authorities won’t intervene, leading to an increase in violent crimes like the one witnessed here.
Even in states like Missouri, where laws are still enforced, a prevailing disregard for the rule of law contributes to more young people turning to crime.
In this case, the store employee believed she could prevent these criminals from breaking the law, only to discover that these teenagers have no respect for it whatsoever.
It’s not entirely surprising that they hold this attitude towards the law. When even fundamental laws, such as immigration laws, are disregarded by those in power, it becomes natural for other laws to be ignored as well.
Once you justify ignoring one law, it becomes easier to justify disregarding others repeatedly.
Local authorities must take more action to empower the police to respond to these crimes, and store employees need to be given the tools to prevent them.
The solution is simple – the more consistently laws are enforced, the less likely people are to break them.
